1. Who is Gateway to Medicine designed for?

Gateway to Medicine is created specifically to support African American high school students who aspire to enter the medical field. Our mission is to equip these students with the mentorship, knowledge, and strategies needed to successfully enter and graduate from medical school.

2. Do I need to live in a specific location to participate?

No. Students from any geographic location are welcome to apply. The program is designed to be accessible no matter where you live, with virtual and flexible engagement options.

3. What grade levels can apply to the program?

The program is open to high school students in grades 9 through 12, college students from freshman through senior year, and recent graduates pursuing their next steps. Whether you’re just starting to explore a medical career, actively preparing during college, or navigating the transition after graduation, we offer support throughout every stage of your journey.

4. What are the requirements to qualify?

High school students must be recommended by a school counselor or STEM teacher who can speak to their academic potential and interest in medicine.

College students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and submit an official or unofficial transcript as part of their application. These requirements help ensure each participant is a strong fit for the program and prepared to succeed.
